Highly Anticipated Scout® on the Circle Welcomes First Residents

Modern mixed-use community marks a key milestone in Fairfax City’s comprehensive plan.

Fairfax, VA. (June 30, 2020) – Scout® on the Circle, a brand-new mixed-use development by Combined Properties, has welcomed the first round of residents to its highly-anticipated 400-unit Class-A luxury apartment community in the City of Fairfax, Virginia. Throughout the uncertainty and limitations surrounding COVID-19, Combined Properties and property manager Jefferson Apartment Group successfully executed leases and move-ins began May 31. Leasing continues with virtual and in-person tours available by appointment.

“The Combined team and I are proud that we could take an over 50-year-old shopping center and rebuild it into a modern, state-of-the-art mixed-use residential, retail and restaurant oasis that will serve the needs of Fairfax for many years,” says Ronald S. Haft, Chairman of Combined Properties.

Scout® on the Circle is located at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 29, approximately one mile from the Orange Line Metro. The former shopping center was razed and reimagined into a transit-oriented community comprised of three buildings and two parking garages. Two of the buildings consist of five levels of luxury apartments above 29,000 square feet of street-level retail facing Fairfax Boulevard.  The retail space is currently 80% leased, including leases in the final stages of negotiations.  Confirmed tenants include Republik Coffee, TeaDM, Peri Peri Original and the Nail Bar.  Giant Food is expected to open this summer and will anchor the property in a 54,000 square foot standalone building.

“The City of Fairfax congratulates Combined Properties on the opening of its signature mixed-use, multi-family residential and commercial project, Scout® on the Circle, at the east entrance to our city,” says Mayor David L. Meyer. “Everyone is looking forward to the completion of the Giant Food grocery store, which meets a need in this area and will be the first new grocery store constructed in the city in more than three decades.”

Residents of Scout® enjoy bright, spacious apartment homes with layouts ranging from junior one bedroom to one, two- and three-bedroom apartments with balcony and den options. The community’s bold and modern aesthetic is enhanced by custom artwork and resort-style amenities that include two lush courtyards with grilling stations and fire pits, a sun-soaked deck and saltwater pool, tailored communal spaces, a cinematic screening room as well as a fitness center with cutting-edge equipment and technology. Scout® on the Circle offers controlled-access parking garages as well as proximity to public transit options.

“We are thrilled to deliver a property at the northeastern gateway to Fairfax City that is representative of the City’s transformation into a more urban, walkable community,” adds Andrew McIntyre, Executive Vice President, East Coast Acquisitions and Development at Combined Properties.  “The interest has been incredible and despite the challenges of COVID-19, we were able to quickly adapt to show our property, sign leases and facilitate move-ins.”
